If we in Australia want lower levels of illicit drugs use and problems, we will have to reduce our high level of inequality. This may seem counter-intuitive to some but there are many examples of dangerous health conditions being conquered as much by improved social conditions as by powerful medical treatments.

On the 9th December 2014, Australia21 Director, Professor Bob Douglas presented at the University of Canberra as a guest speaker for the launch of the new book “Climate Change and Global Health” Edited by Colin Butler. The book comprises 30 chapters, and brings together the work of 56 authors from 19 countries.
We’d like to announce the launch of our new Australia21 inequality mobile application. “Beyond the boats: building an asylum and refugee policy for the long term” was launched on 5 November at Parliament House by Fred Chaney AO. The report provides a clear way forward and was a partnership between Australia21, the Renata and Andrew Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law and the Centre for Policy Development.
Amelia Gates has been appointed voluntary YA21 Coordinator. She will work with our youth wing to develop YA21 activities and programs. In the longer term her vision is to establish YA21 as a valid, vibrant and respected voice of young people in Australia. For more click on the YoungA21 tab.
